The Graduate Degree Program of Global and Transdisciplinary Studies is Japan's first inter-graduate degree program, established in 2020 in collaboration with the Graduate School of Humanities and Studies on Public Affairs and the Graduate School of Science and Engineering at Chiba University.
It aims to encourage and promote graduate education programs responsive to changing global social circumstances. We offer areas of study such as Migration and Refugee Studies, STS (Science, Technology, and Society) Studies, and Environmental Studies.
Self-designed learning and transdisciplinarity are the distinctive elements of this degree program. We expect our graduate students to design their knowledge and expand their study scope through transdisciplinary approaches that require collective, innovative, and dynamic research strategies to transcend the boundaries of traditional and conventional fields. One of the goals of this degree program is to create intellectual leaders who can take the lead in solving intricate and challenging problems of the changing global societies.
