The Center was established in 2007 aiming to conduct research and education regarding preventive medical sciences. In modern society, people are surrounded by countless environmental contaminants, and the health effects caused by these low levels but multiple contaminants are not known. Also, Japanese society is facing to rapid aging and declining birth rates. It is urgently necessary to prepare for healthy future generations. In the Center, we are conducting a large scale, long term cohort study by the Ministry of the Environment, Japan Environment and Children's Study in which the health effects caused by the environmental contaminants during pregnancy and early childhood in later life are studied. Also, Chemiless Town Project, in which healthier housing and building is researched, as well as Consortium of Well Active Community Project in which healthy town design based on primordial preventive medicine is researched. Last but not least, Japan Gerontological Evaluation Study in which they study about healthy aging is conducted.
