Notifications and requests on all overseas travels (study abroad, overseas conferences, research exchanges, and personal trips) for Term 4-6, FY2021

2021.09.10

To all students

In light of the unprecedented scope of the COVID-19, Chiba University canceled all study abroad programs and requested all students to refrain from traveling overseas in Term 1 through Term 3. We thank you again for your understanding and cooperation up until today.

Though the COVID vaccines have become available in many counties and areas, there is still so much more to be found about how contagious variants can be and how many more of them we are to expect. Considering the situation, to prioritize students' safety, Chiba University requests all students to understand and observe the following during Term 4 - Term 6, FY2021.

1. Study abroad programs
Chiba University cancels all study abroad programs in Term4 - Term 6, FY2021, regardless of countries and areas. Study abroad individually planned by students should also be called off. However, please note that we might approve some study abroad programs when deemed safe. If such a case arises, we will deliver you the information promptly.

Support on virtual study abroad programs/online conferences are available for those admitted in 2020 and for certain students admitted in 2021 who are yet to satisfy the study abroad requirement. Please refer to the information posted on the notice board in early April for details.

If you plan to study abroad for nine months or longer based on a student exchange agreement, please consult the contact below.

2. Overseas travels for research exchanges and conferences
Please refrain from traveling overseas for research or conferences.

3. Overseas travels for personal reasons
Please refrain from traveling overseas for personal reasons.

If your supervising teacher acknowledges that the study abroad you individually plan is feasible, or if a particular circumstance that requires overseas travel arises, please consult with the International Student Division.
